Thomas H. Foster, Jr.

I am so terribly sad. I found out today that my Ex, Thomas H. Foster, Jr., passed away on Saturday night. Originally from Stamps, Arkansas, he was only 48 years old. Gone way too soon.

Our relationship lasted for six years. We owned a beautiful home together in Baton Rouge. Tommy always had dinner cooked on the stove. He was the most organized person I knew and kept a spotless house.

He used to buy me cards all the time. I just found one dated 12/31/98. Tommy wrote:
I care for you so very much! I hope and pray you will let me love you and care for you a long, long time. You (Brett), have all my love.
The last message I got from Tommy was at 11:19am on February 14, 2011. He texted me, "Happy Valentine's Day".

Tonight, I am holding my furry rugrats very close. Especially Pierre, my chubby Daschund, who he absolutely adored. Tommy always lovingly called Pierre "Dahla" for some reason. He liked Pierre the best because the dog loved to eat and sleep... a lot like himself!

Whenever I travelled on vacation, Tommy kept Boudreaux and Pierre. In fact, he kept them just a couple of months ago. I always felt great comfort when they were in his hands because he would give them plenty couch loving and ice cream.

I miss you so much buddy. I am shocked that you are not here anymore. I love you with all my heart. You are making me cry BIG tears tonight.

BIG HUG,

Brett

With a heavy heart bud...condolences. When you do establish a relationship with someone, regardless of how it came to end, you always carry a piece of that person. I know what it's like...I lost that person last May in Spider. Hugs!!

Deep, sincere condolences, Brett. You write movingly from your heart and it's very clear how much Tommy meant to you and what a tragic wrench this must be. Even though what you say resonates with our own experiences of losing those we've loved, it's YOUR sorrow which we feel for right now. Thinking of you. Go well, my friend.

Good morning Brett,

Wow, what wonderful words and how true every word you spoke are. I totally understand every word. I am sorry for both our losses. Tommy was not only great to us but to his son which he loved dearly. I am so taken back by this news and thank you for the letting me know this. Tears also fill my eyes. My we find comfort in the fact that he is still taking care of us all, family and friends. We will miss him...

Hugs to you Brett.

Brett, I rarely read your blog but I did today. And the passing of your dear Thomas and your commentary has made me cry along with you.

I recently ended a 14 year relationship with a beautiful man who I will always call my friend. I put myself in your shoes for a moment and imagined how I would feel if my ex also passed away.

I'm terribly sorry for your loss. I'm just very sorry Brett. Thank you for sharing this with your readers.

Time, its so damn fleeting. It gets away from us, and maybe we spend to much time looking toward the future rather than savoring the present. I wish you comfort and that the reels and reels of home movies turning in your head---all those things you probably haven't thought about in awhile of Thomas will bring you comfort. He was taken too soon from you, for sure.
