Injustice at Ole Miss

I am very sad that Ole Miss is replacing it's mascot Colonel Reb. This is nothing short of political correctness gone amok. What's wrong with having a white plantation owner as your mascot? It's tradition!
It also pisses me off that so many schools have shed their Indian mascots. Instead of honoring a brave people at an educational institution, we choose to erase them from our conscienceness. Great. So, now we are left with a very narrow view of Indians as jobless alcoholics on reservations supported by casinos. Way to go you political correctness fucks!
Hell... why don't we start removing offensive names to airports? Let's start with Reagan International and George Bush Intercontinental. I get nauseous flying into those airports by their names alone. Let's change them too!

I assume this is tongue in cheek snark? LOL
And DC's airport, as far as I'm concerned, will be known as Washington National.
Just like Nicholls State University!
I am more convinced than ever that you post stuff like this just to rile people up and get those "high blog ratings" that you so love, because I know you are smarter than this.
I love how many air-traffic controllers will NOT call National Airport be Reagan's name (since he did fire all of them in 1981).
Cleveland Indians still have Chief Wahoo as their visual guy (but not mascot). I'd hate if they lost him.
Ole Piss sucks
LSU sucks
Auburn blows
ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!!!
2009 National Champions
Living in a state with 17 tribes I might have a different view of native Americans.
If Johnny Reb had a noose in one hand and a white sheet in the other would you still feel the same?
The mascots you speak of, 'honoring a brave people at an educational institution' is not how many tribes people feel. The mascots are 'caricatures' of these stoic people not fair representations. Especially the image of a 'red' faced 'injun' running around with a tomahawk hacking people.
I wonder what would happen if an institute of higher learning actually went to a tribe and said, "we would like to have an image of your people represent our school, would you be interested in helping us develop a respectful image?"
Not gonna happen.
As for having a 'narrow view of 'indians' [you're too funny] as jobless alchoholics on reservations supported by casino's',
I suspect that is YOUR view.
Casinos have put MANY native people back on track. Many young native Americans are college graduates now. Schools and medical facilities on reservations have been vastly improved.
The Sandia Tribe use to be the poorest tribe in New Mexico. Thanks to a casino they are now the wealthiest. They are doing so well that they donated one million dollars to the Katrina Relief fund in your own state.
Eliminating said mascots is progress. I'm sure there are many positive images from the south that would make a fine mascot.
If you would prefer a drunken redneck carrying on with his sister that is your choice too.
