Rest in Peace, Rocky:

I am extremely heartbroken. Rocky the Rooster has died. He stood out on the farm as a courageous individual who tirelessly protected the hens in the chicken pen. I admired his great strength. His character was larger than life too. The humorous way Rocky glared at me on camera made him an instant Youtube star. I could always count on Rocky to show me nothing but utter contempt when the camera was rolling. He even made it on a very popular website here. I am going to miss you little guy.

I would like to honor my bud, Rocky, with the following videos:

Wow, that's so sad. I know how difficult it can be to lose a pet. You never get over it, but you will get through this. A big hug to you.

It's sad but it's part of farm life. Will there be a Rocky II? Those hen ladies need a cock.

That is so sad. I'm sorry. Our animals become our family. It's always hard. Quite a personality he had!

Rocky was a hero.

Of all the blogging super-star roosters Rocky was my all-time favourite. He will be sorely missed.

Did he die of natural causes or meet with fowl play?

RIP Rocky - my symapthies to you and the rest of the roost Brett.

Rocky was murdered last night. What is bad is that I heard a disturbance in the chicken pen late at night, but I chose not to investigate. (I had been sleeping) I found Rocky dead and scavenged this morning.

indeed, that is sorrowful; the loss of a pet is a hurt like no other. I am glad people are here to comfort you.

Tragic news - I'm so sorry. The tendency to understate or even mock the loss of pets is one I do NOT subscribe to. Their presence is so valuable, so consoling - I can well understand that the death of Rocky is like a stab to the heart. Best wishes, pal.

Sorry, Brett. I remember when you brought him to DC. Watching you walk him around Dupont Circle on that leash was priceless. He will be missed.

Now make sure you get a better cage to prevent this from happening again.

I'm really sorry to see this post and hear this bad news! My timing is so off, because on LarryOhio's blog I left a reply to your comment and made reference to Rocky...I hadn't read this before then--doh! We have chickens too and the same thing happened to our favorite rooster.
