A Boy and His Mom

I must drive Mama 4 1/2 hours to Houston, TX for an eye specialist appointment today. If you count the trip back, that's nine hours of quality "talk time" on the drive. I'll be entertained by my family's very own NPR Radio Network... voiced by Mama!

Please say prayers for my sanity. If you were a nice friend, you would interrupt the NPR MOM broadcasts by calling me on my cell phone. I may even let you talk to Mama. My ears will thank you.

What I wouldn't give to be able to have that kind of time with my mama. Count your blessings.

I agree with Tony.... and, by the way, why don't you turn the story around and YOU be the one to TALK to Momma for all that time, rather than her talk to you! Have a great time....

So your mom talks a lot (seems the apple doesn't fall far from the tree).

Oh, and I called you, but nobody was home.

My Mom was a blast. She told the best gay jokes. She would come to visit me often in West Hollywood. She wasn't a drinker but we could stay out all night dancing and meeting people. Gay guys flocked around her. Good times. Mike

We made it to the Houston eye medical center just fine. The only stressful part was when I had to take 59 South. All hell broke loose as I had to fight other cars merging in and out of lanes like we were in the Indy 500. The multi-lane Hwy kept splitting into other Hwy's, Mama was chattering away about "art", and I was pensively peering down at my iPhone GPS. I am now pecking away at my iPhone hidden in a quiet part of lobby. (Getting some "Brett" time)

Jeff... I got your message. When you called, I was forcing Mama to scarf down food at Pappadeux's under a strict 30 minute time limit. I had my phone on silent, but I did call you back later!

Made it home after 9 1/2 hours driving to Houston and back. So Effing tired! We listened to LSU vs. Texas baseball game in College World Series all the way home.

Well a day late and a dollar short. If I'd known you were going to be in town I could have made you a sack lunch and brought it to the doctor's office.:)
I'm sure you survived and will have fond memories of your trip. You're a good son Brett.

I understand your trepidation, and can't imagine 9 hours in the car with my mother-in-law. Good luck!

Actually, the ride wasn't nearly as bad as I thought. There was only 10 minutes where I felt like playing the "QUIET GAME" with mom. That was when the driving got really stressful near Downtown Houston.
