STOP!

Would our political leaders STOP SPENDING MONEY!? Son of a bitch! How much debt are you bastards going to saddle us with when all is said and done? Jeez! What's wrong with you people?
And would the media and politicians stop using FEAR to scare gullable Americans into supporting this economic stimulus package? This is nothing more than the raping of our treasury to reward failed businesses.
Hasn't our "great" country already wrongly invaded Iraq using a trumped up "Fear Card"? Now the same fear card is being used to ensure future generations of Americans are saddled with an impossible debt load. And the masses are too blind to see this.
It's time for the American taxpayer to stand up and say ENOUGH!

Oh I don't know about that handsome. We've been spending money like it's water for more than 8 years now without any regard for where it's going....and, unfortunately, it's gone to other nations for the most part. Now, the $$$ is at least being targeted for our own struggling nation -- in spite of the fact that I don't agree 100% with how it's being spent. We're in trouble here. Serious trouble. I don't believe that throwing money at a problem will fix it...but, possibly, it's a start.
The difference here is the fear is based in reality instead of trumped up make-believe threats.
While I'm not overly confident it will "fix" the problem, ignoring it and doing nothing would be a whole lot worse!
We have to do something, because what we've done in the past has demonstrably proven not to work. We've had 30 years of Republicanomics that has gotten us as a country, into this mess. Fixing it is not going to happen over night.
So where would you not spend money Brett - Education, SCHIP, renewable energy, rebuilding the infrastructure?
I think you hit the nail on the head with this entry. American's are afraid we are in a recession...so they have stopped spending money...which is in turn putting us deeper in the hole (so to speak). The Government is spending money like there is no tomorrow thinking they are going to relieve the recession...and while they may create some jobs...they have got to relieve the fear that is in the American public and get us to start spending money again! Without people spending money in large quantities, the Government's money is just going into a bottomless pit.
ah but fear is such so efficacious!
One could argue our country is based on fear, starting back to the wilderness of New England
So you're comfortable with losing millions more jobs? Some things are worth spending on, and others aren't. Spending hundreds of billions a year on Iraq brought us nothing but pain. Spending hundreds of billions on job creation is a necessary evil. If unemployment goes to 15%, or more, then the government will be getting drastically less revenue and spending more on unemployment benefits.
How secure is your job Brett? The rest of us are watching and wondering whether we will have a job in the near future. If I lose my job there is a real possibility I could lose my house.
Damn, I sure hate to see all those jobs in military support dry up.
Thats what I'm talking about.
The problem is theres nothing we can do about it. Everyone I know is complaining about the porkulus package but our elected officials don't listen.
And until everyone votes libertarian, nothing is going to change...
How bad!!!
The problem is that the US economy is affecting the entire world's economy.
EFUCKINGNUF!!!!
Where's mikeinbama ????????????????????????????????????
Let me second Erick. It's not only about the US.
Brett; You sound like the right kind of Democrat. Has no one noticed that Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and the banks poured billions into bad loans, AT THE GOVERNMENT'S BEHEST? The former head of Fannie Mae made 9 million dollars from his position.
Yes, something must be done: Oil drilling, especially off Santa Barbara, Ca, where it leaks on shore, Nuclear Power, easing of environmental rules-I did not say, elimination, elimination of unnecessary Federal departments-yes, education! It ias not the responsibility of the Federal Gov't to support public education with taxpayer funds.
But if you are going to spend, how about a one year Income tax holiday in which all back taxes owed by citizens would be forgiven.
While you are at it, repeal the Capital Gains tax. Probably have said enough to get some here going...Heh heh
Hold it right there Homer! Before you get going, "CB in Ca" is NOT a typical Republican. Just remember there are nut job Democrats, too.
Let's make a little list of the things that are happening right now:
The economy is in the tubes, the financial system is a wreck, we're mired in two wars, global warming is parboiling the planet, the government has been forced to spend a trillion dollars or more just to stave off utter ruin and there's precious little money left to finance desperately needed reforms in health care, education, energy, infrastructure.
The US unemployment rate is 7.6% in January 2009. Over the past 12 months, the number of un-
employed persons has increased by 4.1 million.
Remove yourself from the bubble you live in and see what's really going on in this country. You don't need a politican to install fear. Fear is standing at everyones doorway, it doesn't need help getting it's message out.
With no fanfare and little notice, the national debt grew by more than $4 trillion during George W. Bush’s presidency and you posted nothing.
On the day President Bush took office, the national debt stood at $5.727 trillion. The latest number from the Treasury Department shows the national debt now stands at more than $9.849 trillion. That’s a 71.9 percent increase on Mr. Bush’s watch.
Doing absolutely nothing is the right answer. Let the chips fall where they may.
I suggest that you rally everyone in the state of Louisiana to refuse any stimulus money that your state would receive. Inform Gov. Bobby Jindal to refuse any money that would be allotted to rebuild New Orleans and the Louisiana gulf coast. I'm sure there is no need for hospitals, schools or anything that was sweeped away by the flurry of hurricanes that has hit Louisiana.
Enough is enough and your tax dollars are better spent doing nothing.
