Confessions of a Carpet Licker

Just last weekend, I watched LSU defeat Texas A&M in softball and a total of four college basketball games in their entirety. It was a perfectly relaxing way to enjoy my weekend.

Whenever I tell friends that New Orleans needs a sports themed gay bar, it is ALWAYS met with stone silence. You would have thought I farted. They are like, "WHY? Are you a lesbian?" I am like, "No. I just like sports."

Atlanta has WOOFS and it is not overrun by lesbians. In fact, I always see nothing but butch men there that share my love of sports. Of course, the only annoying thing is that they are ardent supporters of the Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Falcons. I am all LSU Tigers and New Orleans Saints.

I am still on my "SAY NO TO ALCOHOL" policy since last weekend's Tequila adventure. I am NOT being a hypocrite. I just think being in a sports bar surrounded by my best buds would be more fun than another drag show.

Is this anyone else's idea of a good time? Or am I just a lesbian trapped in a gay man's body?

Well, we all know there's no drinking at Sports bars, so you're idea makes sense.

:P

I competely agree with you. I love sports and get sick and tired of gays guys bashing sports all the time. I'm a very competitive guy and I grew up playing every sport. I support my alma mater, The University of Alabama and enjoy going to live sporting events.

I would love to have a local gay sports bar.

Nah, yer normal. I likes football myself. I've also been known to head down to my neighborhood titty bar for the $6 surf n' turf. I don't mind looking at titties if it means throwing down six bones for a lobster tail, steak, and fully loaded baked potato. That doesn't make me a lesbian, it makes me a frugal homo.

ANYTHING - even football - would be better than another drag show!

I'm not a sports buff myself but can't think why a guy's love for sports would make him lesbian. Stereotypes of this kind look make me giggle.

you know I am with you, WOOFS is all the fun.... ( wish that Georgia would grow up and ban indoor smoking) That sort of place would NEVER fly up here, BUT, I would think that in NO it would. There are so damn many folks out watching the Saints on Sundays anyway.
But you have to remember that Atlanta is a magnet town, all of the SEC is there. Sometimes it seems like more AU and FSU that UGA!

Dallas has Woody's it a gay sports bar but I don't know how many go there just to watch sports. I have a couple of rabid sport fan friends (they love LSU also, Geaux Tigers!) and they just take over the straight sports bar that is in the gayborhood.

I still debating on the issue of you being a lesbian trapped in the body of a gay man though....

We're lucky that in Boston we have a gay sports bar (Fritz) AND a drag bar (Jacques) - so whatever your in the mood for, is available.

Of course, we don't celebrate Marti Gras, so of course no one ever gets drunk.

Drag football or basketball would combine the best of two worlds.

My friends and I have been looking for a good gay or friendly sports bar ourselves!I enjoy sports, well real sports, not like women's figure skating. We tend to gravitate to the few bars with the big screens to watch whatever game is on, unless we are out looking for hotties, but I digress... LOL

Rugby season is starting, but I still ask myself, "How many weeks till football again?"

I am right there with you. Portland could use a good gay sports bar too.

Vancouver, BC has the Fountainhead Pub, which is always a good time, and afterwards you walk up the street to the Pumpjack!

"More Gay Sports Bars!!!"

As RG mentioned, we 'have it all' in Boston. Fritz is one of my favorite hangouts and they always have some sporting event on. ('real' sporting event...no figure skating Gooster)
Jacques, on the other hand, is a very odd place. On any given Saturday night, it is JAM PACKED with bachelorette parties as well as men of all shapes and sizes in drag.
The drag show is quite entertaining, but the amount of people they cram in there (not to mention the cover charge) isn't enough to make me want to spend a lot of time there.

We don't have one in Cincinnati either. Very frustrating. I alway visit Crew in Chicago and Sidelines in Fort Lauderdale when travelling to those cities. We need one here!

I love WOOFS... It's great fun, the people are laid back and friendly, and they have the best burgers in the city... don't get me started on the tater tots...
I believe that there are two types of guys that go there... The guys that love watching sports... and the guys that love watching guys watching sports... I'm the latter...LOL

Love from Atlanta
