Tsk. Tsk. Should have picked Hillary!

Governor Sarah Palin clearly won the Vice Presidential debate last night. Of the two candidates, she actually has a personality. And before one more person tells me... "GET OVER IT! HILLARY LOST!"... I am going to kick you in the balls. I am not over it. I want to scream "I TOLD YOU SO!" a million fucking times.
I shook my head in disgust last night at the sheer folly of picking someone so downright dull as Senator Joe Biden. Rattling off a mindnumbing amount of facts would muddy any message you are trying to convey. Watching Biden last night reminded me of John Kerry and Al Gore's worst traits.
People don't want to be bored to death with fact overload! They want to be dazzled with your personality. Even though Governor Sarah Palin didn't answer most of the questions posed, she simply came off better than Biden did on live television.
If the McCain/Palin ticket wins... we must blame Obama, who was too proud to pick a smarter and better rival as Vice President.

Get over it...Hillary LOST and McCain is losing. All the polls are moving dramatically in Obama's direction (including Florida, Pennsylvania and Ohio), a VP debate has never changed minds, and yet you are still in denial.
Polls already show Biden won the debate (46%-21% CBS) and people feel Biden is more in touch with problems of regular people (50%-44% CNN). 98% think Biden is knowledgeable on the issues (who ever gets poll numbers like that?). So far what I'm hearing is all the pundits saying she didn't answer any questions. If that's the narrative then she's completely lost.
This election is different. I think people do want someone with knowledge and don't give a shit about who they want to have a beer with this time around.
WHAT? Are you insane? She didn't win. Not making a complete ass out of yourself does NOT equal victory. I find it offensive that you believe that Palin gets the victory when she technically lost the debate based on basic debate scoring...just because she didn't trainwreck? Shame on you for even writing that.
I'm glad she didn't trainwreck actually. Little girls around the country shouldn't have to endure another round of "stupid bitch" (like after the Katie Couric interviews)comments. Palin is so far out of her league it's painful to think anyone would want her in Washington.
Did you actually watch?
As for Biden's answers being dry and complex. 1) They weren't. 2) Complex problems need complex answers and the American public better get used to it because the economy & war thing are VERY complex. And a wink and a smile don't cut it. This ain't American Idol. This is the government.
Maybe you want joe 6-pack running the country, but I'd rather have educated people who actually know more than 10 days worth of cramming running the country.
STOP with the Hillary. Hell, she's my senator and I'm over it.
What's wrong with you?
You fools. You have no clue what is in store for America. You let the media dictate what you think is reality. The RISE OF HILLARY is just beginning. In four short years, her power will be truly magnificient to behold. As a disciple, I am ready.
Wow... you actually think Palin WON? The only thing she won was not looking like an idiot.
At least Biden answered the fucking questions and didn't use a single "you betcha" with a wink.
I don't know about you, but I don't want my country being represented by yet ANOTHER retard.
Palin managed to sound half-way intelligent only because she didn't bother answering the questions that were asked. It was almost as if she read off any cue card that was in front of her regardless of their relevance to the question. Her response to Cheney's view of the vice presidency was pathetic.
I hope that people have realized that "folksy" people they would "like to have a beer with" aren't always the best ones to elect. Otherwise we'll be stuck with rambling non-answers like this:
""Say it ain't so, Joe, there you go again pointing backwards again. You preferenced [sic] your whole comment with the Bush administration. Now doggone it, let's look ahead and tell Americans what we have to plan to do for them in the future. You mentioned education and I'm glad you did. I know education you are passionate about with your wife being a teacher for 30 years, and god bless her. Her reward is in heaven, right? I say, too, with education, America needs to be putting a lot more focus on that and our schools have got to be really ramped up in terms of the funding that they are deserving. Teachers needed to be paid more. I come from a house full of school teachers. My grandma was, my dad who is in the audience today, he's a schoolteacher, had been for many years. My brother, who I think is the best schoolteacher in the year, and here's a shout-out to all those third graders at Gladys Wood Elementary School, you get extra credit for watching the debate."
God love ya'.
Brett,
Where you go wrong (as usual) is that you take what YOU want to see in a candidate (sparkling personality) and project that onto the rest of America.
Remember: 35-40% of the people are going to vote for the Republican, even if he were a wooden ventrilloquist's dummy (we proved that in 2000 and 2004). 35-40% of the people are going to vote for the Democrat even if he were Lyndon Johnson dug up from his grave. And most of those votes won't matter, because unless you live in a competitive, swing state, your vote is one of tens of millions that is essentially wasted. Every Texas Democrat could vote for Hillary as a write-in candidate and she's still not going to get a single electoral vote. Likewise for every California Republican writing in Arnold.
What matters (and you can't seem to remember this): how will the 10% or so of SWING VOTERS in the SWING STATES vote? The assumption going in is that those states' votes will be close (hence why they're important) and so even then, that means MOST of those state's voters are already split. There's a narrow band of people in a handful of states who will decide this thing.
And for you to assume that you know what those people want is flashy personality over substance is the height of arrogance. You may think the media is dictating reality, but they're far more likely to know who those swing voters are, and what they're saying, than you.
Brett, you're slowly morphing into the gay blog world's very own Sarah Palin. Or maybe even Trig.
Please stop with the lunacy, also.
"Disciple" huh? I guess the Obama folks don't have a monopoly on the creepy cult followers thing.
Your posts show a dangerous disconnect from reality. Granted, the polls can change overnight, but you seem to think you have some magic ability to predict where they'll go. In reality, if you did have this ability, I think you'd be sitting in a very fancy office somewhere off of Pennsylvania Av, rather than dodging hurricanes in Baton Rouge.
The fundamentals look very good for Obama, and they look very bad for McCain. Palin certainly recovered in this last debate, but she didn't change any fundamental perceptions. McCain and his entire party are fumbling on the biggest issue of our times, the economy, because their fundamental philosophy (deregulation) now appears to be bankrupt. While McCain scrambles for a coherent response, Obama's been exemplary with his measured, mature and stable responses. This is what people want during uncertain times.
Would things be different if Hillary had won? Of course. Palin wouldn't have been chose. McCain would've gone for somebody more centrist, like Lieberman. That way he could position himself perfectly as the moderate/maverick "third way" politician, and point at Hillary as being "more of the same." Would this tactic work? Who knows. But the point is - Hillary would be fighting through her own set of issues right now, were she the candidate.
GET OVER IT!!!!! I honestly think you didn't watch the debate....I admit she didn't make an ass of herself. How can you when all here answers were the same. All she could talk about was how here "expertise" centered around energy. It didn't matter what the question was. Bill Clinton even admits that his wife didn't want to be VP. She is over it, Bill is over it, and you should also get over it.
I don't want someone that close to the presidency to be my drinking buddy. I want someone that isn't afraid to listen to others around them, and listen to the people of the U.S. and be able to develop policy based on many sources of info. Not someone that was force fed information and readily admits that "hey I've only been at this for 5 weeks" to make life and liberty altering decisions.
If you are so intrigued by here maybe you should change your blog to brett eskimo and move to Alaska. She has made it perfectly clear that her only care is what is best for Alaska and not the other 49 states.
I love that you answered with your disciple comment. To me it shows that you have chosen Hillary not because of her policy positions, but because of some personality trait. I've asked you many times why she was the better candidate. Why, when you think progressive politics are a losing issue, did you support the more progressive of the two candidates?
Criticize Obama supporters all you want, but you have proven that you're nothing more than you criticized them of being. You have nothing substantive to offer and cling to her personality.
Dude. If I may address you as such. This isn't American Idol or Dance Fever. Its our country and the world. Brett, I have a hunch you don't believe a word of this stupid shit you wrote here. You're a needler who loves stirring the pot. I'm right aren't I?? I know because I am too and there couldn't be any other logical explanation. Its probably fun for you and getting people riled up gives you a hard-on. But seeing what this is like from the other side (ie kind of annoying and definitely embarrassing and dumb) I'm going to try to temper my own needling from now on. You keep having fun with it! But don't be all bitter when nobody reads you anymore.
I have to say I am glad that everyone is getting into this, Hopefully everyone is planning on voting. If everyone does the job on this election this year. I think it would set a world record for voters and voter tunr out. please remeber who ever you vote vote go VOTE.
Brett great job here once again.
Ray
LOL - As a "moderate" Republican who backed Clinton, I have to say you nailed it. I am just amazed that some of these commenter's seem to be living in a political vacuum; they don't realize what people living outside the gay ghetto are thinking.
And then there's this lack of historical knowledge and fudging the facts.
MANY FORMER CLINTON SUPPORTERS HAVE GONE ACROSS THE AISLE! And that's a fact.
Dear Brett,
GET OVER IT!!! Take a deep bteath. Go and kick someones ass in tennis and take your frustrations out on some right wing asshole.
Hilary is NOT going to be VP. I to am a Hillary supporter, but its time to look at the big picture.
A McCain/Palin administration would be a horrible mistake.
btw...do you know the difference between Palin & Bush?
lipstick:)
What the hell are you smoking? Moose meat? The ONLY people giving the debate to Palin today are the hardcore right-wingers. Got that Log Cabin Republicans address handy? Maybe you need to send them some money. I am deeply disappointed in you, although I suspect you can deal with that.
"GET OVER IT! HILLARY LOST!"...
Brett,
Love you like an STD, but, I am not interested in their personality. I want them to know how to do their fucking job! Palin's first comment about a soccer game... UGGGHHH
And her winking and "Youbetcha." Exactly what trailer park did she come from?
I give her credit that the McCain team prepped her NOT to look like a complete idiot. Now, she has to stand on her feet and complete an interview without being prepared. She needs to take the time and prepare herself.
You posted a comment saying this on Facebook before the debate was even finished. Lame.
Brett: Looks like there are at least two who thought Palin won. However, her margin was slim. True, it can be said that Hilary lost. But, even with the way the polls are going, there could be a turnaround, even 4 weeks out! We shouldn't forget that the media has been campaigning quite hard for Obama. For example, why has little been said about the Democrat rule requiring housing loans to be given to those whould couldn't afford tham? Then there is the miserable tax policiies of the American left (this is not a defense of "Dubya's" economic policies, much of which I disagree with.) At the forefront, of course, is Obama's inexperience.
Some here will disagree, but Obama is to Biden as Palin is to McCain. Regarding this, could Obama pick sound Constitutional scholars for the Supreme Court? Liberty could face severe attack at the hands of activist judges who are creative in (mis!) handling the Supreme Law of the land. I shudder to think who he would pick.
Would Obama turn this nation into the United SOCIALIST States of America? I ask this in all seriousness.
Brett –I can fully understand why you think Palin won the debate – you are so much alike. Down home, country folk with an overly simplistic view of the world, little knowledge outside your home state and a total lack of understanding how Washington works. You entertain us, make us laugh with your off the wall comments and – you are easy on the eyes (wink). America loves you Brett, and we love Sarah, but we don’t want either of you running our government or making decisions that affect our lives.
She was a fucking idiot! Can she answer one question directly, or indirectly for that matter? NO! OMG, you don't really think she won, you are just yanking our chains aren't you. Oh Brett, maybe you are just pretty.
Brett,
Just dedicate your efforts and suppport for McCain/Palin and get it over with. This "I can't wait to say I told you so" is childish. I really don't think anyone is going to congratulate or hoist you up on their shoulders on November 5th.
........People don't want to be bored to death with fact overload! They want to be dazzled with your personality.
........Even though Governor Sarah Palin didn't answer most of the questions posed, she simply came off better than Biden did on live television.
After 8 years of "personality", 2 ongoing wars, the economy in the tank, soaring unemployment, rising food, healthcare and gas cost, I see your point of wanting to be dazzled by someone who says she's doesn't know anything because she has been on the job for 5 weeks.
You know, you're right. Why bother with facts about anything when you can smile, wink at the camera and show everyone your new haircut. You and Sarah are just a like, pretty face, nice body...and that's just about it.
Ok BRett .... think about this. Do you REALLY think that Hillary could be #2? I sincerely doubt she could be happy not being in charge.
I find it hard to believe that she claisms she went school for journalism...She didn't say nuclear correct once, it is not new que lur, she pronounces it like Bush does. And she said also every time she couldnt think of anything else to say, about 30 times. And enough with the winking and gosh darn pandering to people. And Alaska has one s in it, she always pronounces it with three of them..up here in Alassska.
Sarh Palin needs to be bake to being a LensCrafters model.
I am hurt that so many of you would NOT want me running the country. As president, I would order every neighborhood to have daily beauty pageants to keep our denizens aware of how importance appearances are. There would be no army, no weapons, no IRS. We Americans would extol the values of beauty and grace.
From a London Review of Books article by Jonathan Raban:
"What is most striking about her is that she seems perfectly untroubled by either curiosity or the usual processes of thought. When answering questions, both Obama and Joe Biden have an unfortunate tendency to think on their feet and thereby tie themselves in knots: Palin never thinks. Instead, she relies on a limited stock of facts, bright generalities and pokerwork maxims, all as familiar and well-worn as old pennies.
"Given any question, she reaches into her bag for the readymade sentence that sounds most nearly proximate to an answer, and, rather than speaking it, recites it, in the upsy-downsy voice of a middle-schooler pronouncing the letters of a word in a spelling bee. She then fixes her lips in a terminal smile. In the televised game shows that pass for political debates in the US, it’s a winning technique: told that she has 15 seconds in which to answer, Palin invariably beats the clock, and her concision and fluency more than compensate for her unrelenting triteness."
Maybe triteness is what you look for in someone a heartbeat away from the presidency. If so, how insulting to Hillary, who is anything but trite.
OK, little boy. You got your attention. Now go back to photographing or videoing yourself and let the grown-ups take care of things. Go on - skedaddle, Brett!
Ummm, did we watch the same debate?
Biden spoke to me. I understood and followed what he was saying and found him much more engaging than I ever expected. Palin's failure to answer questions drove me insane.
And if you argue it is about personality to sway votes, then why the hell did that woman not get the hair out of her eyes. It drove me crazy. (Not that Biden's hair is anything to marvel at).
Seriously, Palin is a wonderful anchorwoman. She did not demonstrate the knowledge and confidence to make me think that she is qualified. Plain and simple.
It's true Palin didn't flub up like people suspected she might. But if that's enough to win an election, based on your post... then I am done. Moving away. Convinced that America's soul has flatlined and this country is truly a bunch of idiots incapable of understanding what the role of President and Vice President truly require.
Bless your heart.
E Shrew must be the one with the brains in the family.
Brett, Brett, Brett...
You are so sweet. But Palin is a joke, regardless of how she smiles at the camera.
"America loves you Brett, and we love Sarah, but we don’t want either of you running our government or making decisions that affect our lives."
Dude... wake up to yourself! :-)
Gosh darn, thank you Chris. I've been quoted on Brettcajun's blog! I'm also surprised no one has mentioned Todd - woof. Let's stop talking about her and blog about him for awhile.
Brett...I am glad you cleared this up. Now I know that if you choose not to answer ANY of the questions asked of you in a debate..but you merely sound sweet..then YOU WIN!!!!
This is the exact dumbass reasoning that got G Dubya elected...ugh
Brett, before you go bananas over people saying "Hillary woulda kicked Palin's ass in the VP debate," keep in mind such a statement is stated in a 'what if' sort of way. I don't actually long for Hillary to be VP, because she lost, and that's the way the ball bounced. She woulda been nice, but she lost and Obama didn't pick her as VP.
Indeed, Hillary woulda trashed Palin in the debate, but Biden did OK. No, he's not Mr. Charisma, but he did a good job. I think Palin is doing a good job self-destructing even without Hillary's help.
I still cannot believe she lost!! It just proves that most Americans are idiots!!!!!!!!
Brett - whatever you wanna say about not "being over it" is fine...but the fact of the matter is this...
You saying that "Palin Won" is spoken more out of bitterness that "Hillary Lost" than Palin actually winning the debate...
Every poll says Biden won...and even Republican Strategists say Biden is more qualified and more informed than Palin...
Of course we know Americans are sometimes stupid...
Look at who they elected the last eight years....
But to whine and pout over Hillary losing and to then turn that into "Palin Won" is absolutely ridiculous and only shows greater stupidity..
Obama may win...McCain may win...we will find out on Nov 4th...
Regardless, it is stupid and uniformed to say that Palin is more intelligent and a better VP pick than Biden....
who cares about palin?! look how many comments the post got ;) maybe i should blog about the election too, lol,
Jay
Too many liberals in this blog, Brett. Unfortunately, it hurts to say this, being a republican, but it looks like Obama/Biden will win in a few weeks, unless McCain/Palin can energize their campaign and start addressing the important issues, like the economy, healthcare, and national security. No matter what president takes over, the economy is still going to be in a recession. People just need to chill out and wait for it to bounce back. This is a country that is heavily in debt. The line has to stop somewhere. We have to stop spending. I think this recession was going to happen sooner or later. And we will bounce back...May take 6 months, or 12 months, or maybe even a couple years.
As for Obama, one of the most horrific things he has said is that he wants to sign the Freedom of Choice Act. You know I am a pediatrician and feel very strongly against abortion. If he passes this act, it will destroy everything we have done at the state level to help limit abortions, enforce consent laws for minors, educate women and families on the dangers of abortions. Today, 1 in 4 women have had an abortion. That is mind blowing. It is the worse exploitation of women and families. Women who have abortions are at higher risk of infertility, premature births, breast cancer, depression, anxiety, and suicide. Among many others. Some feminists would say abortion is a woman's right. But in fact it is just the opposite. It is doing women wrong. If we give them support, as men, as families, as communities, perhaps these women would not feel so compelled to have an abortion. But Obama wants to pass FOCA so the path is completely clear for women, and even young girls who are pregnant, to get an abortion...no consent from parents needed. Because it will wipe out the state laws that we have worked so hard to legislate the past 35 years.
Anyways, just one reason why I would not vote for Obama. He may be a brilliant man but I don't feel like he is the best choice for our country.
hey Brett i got 5 words for ya:GET THE FUCK OVER IT!
