When You Fail to Read the Tea Leaves...

...you really end up looking like a dumbass. I am actually feeling sorry for Obama. You got outmaneuvered and outflanked by Republicans. It's your own damn fault for not picking the one VP candidate that everyone was pining for... Hillary Clinton.
You didn't want to share the limelight with the flashy Hillary, so you chose the dull Biden. But it's too late brainiac. You made your erroneous pick and you can't just dump him now!
Thanks to you, McCain and the Republican Party now look like geniuses. Way to go Obama! I warned you of the dire consequences in not making the correct choice. Now your poll numbers have been falling ever since.
Choosing Sarah Palin was quite the excellent Sith move. As brother boy would say, CAN YOU SEE MY PUSSY NOW?
Editor's Note: I am not voting for McCain/Palin, but I do enjoy saying "I told you so!"

If only he had listened....to YOU!! Yup he's a dumbass alright. And surely not picking Hilary is the cause of everything bad that happens. I'll bet if he had picked Hilary hurricane ike wouldn't be bearing down on Cuba. And F*cking A, that cliff that fell on a whole neighborhood in Cairo?? Stupid obama and his stupid VP picks! Snore....zzzzzzz....snore ....zzzzzzz
Only dumbasses live in places where hurricanes knock your power out every year or so.
See, if I can be "logical" just like you.
Oh, Homer, your grumpy old man act is ever the most charming part of your blog persona. I always feel like you are gramps wielding your cane around ready to knock me one. ;)
Don't tell Homer, but I was actually considering Obama over McCain before Sarah came on the scene.
(And the hurricane zone states aren't trying to steal water for other states.)
And McCain's choice of Palin and the excitement that it's generated among evangelical Christians would be different if Obama had chosen Hillary...how, exactly?
White women and white men are now FLOCKING to the McCain side. Read the polls. The women want to see a female Vice President, while the men think Sarah is smoking HOT!
I wansn't a huge Obama supporter as I would have preferred Hillary, but that's not in the plan.
But this whole Palin thing only makes me support Obama even more so.
Hell will freeze over McSame & McBitch
I hear ya Ryan. I am going to be dragged kicking and screaming to the polls. But I'll vote for Obama. I may be stubborn, but I am not stupid.
Yes, a brilliant move to choose a woman mired in scandal, with as much political experience as I have.
I hope your "I told you so" will keep you warm when the country is bankrupt and the nuclear fallout is coming...
Dude, save your "I told you so!" for November.
The fat lady hasn't sang yet, except for you, her younger sister squawking!
Aside from that...glad you boys are ok down there after the storm!
I love the "i told you so" game. I told you Lieberman was a poor choice. I told you Hillary would not win the nomination. Wow...it does feel good to be right.
First of all I am glad you are ok, Since youa re writing this blog.
Second of all thank you for your veiws. We need people to VOTE, GO AND VOTE. I am not going to tell you and your readers to VOTE for. But everyone needs to go and vote. This is your right to vote.
Do not bitch if you do not vote, for I do nto want to hear it.
Again thanks for all of your views.
Ray
So the republican party was correct in choosing a "flashy" female for their choice as VP. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.....I wonder where the "I told you so" moment is in this post? To simply pick a gun women based solely on the basis of being a women screams intelligence. I think it is time that you get off your sobbing and whining soapbox to act like and adult as your Hilary has and realize and campaign for someone who will not put America closer to the dark ages in all respects.
I think the democrats should make Joe Biden fake a heart attack and then put Hillary on the ticket. It's the only way we democrats are going to win against McCain/Palin.
Trust me, I'm voting for Obama, but it "ain't" looking very good right now.
I doubt very seriously that any woman that was for Hillary will vote for McCain simply because Palin is on the ticket.
They really can't be more different.
It's too early to be putting any weight behind a poll this close after the RNC.
Wait until she is finally interviewed and participates in a debate. I suspect the polls will change. Nearly everything coming out of her mouth so far has been found to be a lie.
I'm not so sure that the Hillary thing would have changed much with evangelicals....they can't stand her. And that's the group that's surrounding this latest Wal Mart Hockey Mom and soon to be VP. She's something, isn't she. As for BROTHER BOY, yup....I can see it.
you know what.
Brett, you are right.
It was a smart move.
However seeing as we are now in a choice between two evils. I offer a third suggestion.
Everyone, write me in.
Sure I have very little experience.
But I promise to try real hard.
Brett: You disappointed me! I though Palin was getting another vote! BTW, she is an attractive lady. CBinCa
I don't think it was about Hillary so much as it was about Bill. I so wish she would of divorced him. I think that's her one and only drawback. I was really saddened when I watched the DNC - because it made me realize what a great person Hillary is. I don't know how everyone else feels - but is it seemingly like its going to come down to either - hate gays or love gays - hate progress or want it and so on. It seems to me, that the republicans are so right-winged they've lost complete sense of the reality of our country. I wanna make love - not war.
And I don't really think that the Obama train has run out of steam. I have to wonder how much of the media is media spin with some serious republican dollars. Luckily Obama's got some serious change to do the same. The game may have begun, but its far from over. (I hope.)
Brett - where did you hear that Hillary wanted to be VP or would have accepted - if it had been offered to her? I think you're going on a pretty wild assumption that she wanted the job in the first place. I firmly believe that if she had wanted it, she would have it. And yes, the Republicans are brilliant strategists. This nomination took even me by surprise.
If I ever had a doubt about voting for Obama, my choice was made for me when this pray away the gay mooseburger lover hockey mom was put on the Republican ticket.
Will I put up an Obama sign? no
Will I contribute to his campaign? no
Will he get my vote? yes
I would love to see a debate between Hillary and Sarah. Can you imagine?
Points:
1. The excitement around Palin is partly because the Republicans hadn't nominated a woman for the ticket before. The Democrats did it 24 years ago, so Hillary would not have been so much a novelty.
2. The people flocking around her are not Hillary voters. There is a huge ideological gap between the two women.
3. Palin is firing up the Republican base precisely because she fills in the gaps in McCain's appeal. Hillary and Obama are not so different that she would have brought something new to the Democratic side, the way Biden does. Moreover, Hillary proved during the primaries that she can't move beyond the base - which is precisely why she didn't win the nomination.
4. Brother boy? Please. If your political observations make you akin to any Sordid Lives character, it's Juanita, the crazy woman with a one (broken) track mind, convinced that if she just keeps calling numbers, she'll win that Willie Nelson ticket contest that ended two years ago. Give it up - she LOST.
Really, race and gender shouldn't be the issue. The issue should be one's stance on the issues.
Call me a Pollyanna if you will, but I have faith that the majority of Americans will make the intelligent choice come November. I hope so, anyway.
I think sometimes you say this stuff just to stir stuff up because I don't believe you are actually this naive or short-sighted.
The people who have flocked to McCain since putting Palin on the ticket are the extreme conservatives and religious right who were floating out to sea because they felt McCain was too far to the left.
Also, you can't trust the polls just yet. Everybody's numbers shoot up just after their respective convention. Obama's did. And so have others historically.
If anyone is a dumbass it's the people who can't swallow the bitter pill and will allow the Republicans another 4 years by refusing to vote for Obama.
And I have a feeling that should he win, Hillary and Bill both will figure very prominently in the Obama adminisitration. Like Supreme Court or Sec of State. Both of which are much more powerful positions than lady-in-waiting..I mean Vice president.
Ya know Brett.. the more I read your blog.. the more I realize your pretty much always right. You are very blessed... You're smart, have a sweet southern voice to express your opinions, you are way beautiful, and always right. Bravo!
There'll be time enough for countin' when the dealin's done. (Trying to speak like Brett)
It looks grim now for Obama, but the truth might come out in the wash by November.
I hope. Otherwise there's a fine compound for American gay refugees in Dublin.
I just want to point out that as of today, Obama is leading in 3 of the 4 major national tracking polls, as well as in Zogby's poll released today (a 7 point swing from last month's Zogby poll). He's leading in Virginia, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota, and Michigan. If he can just hold his position in those states between now and the first Tuesday following the first Monday in November, Barack Obama will be your new president-elect.
I see no reason why he shouldn't. Bush's approval ratings are far lower than they were 4 years ago, there aren't 13 anti-gay marriage referenda on the ballot, Palin's approval numbers continue to shrink, and the new voter registrations are massively favoring Democrats.
McCain blew his wad with the Palin pick, and it definitely shook up the race; but ultimately people will be voting for the top of the ticket, like they do every election. And John "the fundamentals of our economy are strong" McCain is looking worse and worse by the day.
Palin was flavor of the weak -- but that's it. She reached her peak & it's all down hill from here. As soon as she gets any scrutiny her luster goes down -- immediately. Not to be sexist (and I know the swiftboaters are out there ready to pounce on anything that's remotely critical of them -- bunch of unAmerican pussys -- although desperation has its privileges) -- But, you can put lipstick on a pig, etc. etc..... Fact remains -- Sarah is completely out of her league & not ready for prime time. Being able to see Russia from her house is no qualification to guard our front door. 5 colleges in 6 years -- what a dummy. Finally, McCain is pretty reckless, and hence unfit to hold office, for gambling with the American public by picking someone this green to assume office. God help us.
Ssshhhh...this doesn't fit into Brett's narrative, so we have to ignore it.
Psssssttt! There's more news.
Hey Brett - I Disagree completely!!!
Sarah Palin is NOTHING THE REPUBLICAN PARTY SHOULD BE PROUD OF!!!
And I think People are going to start to see that!
All the latest polls show people are not liking her as much as the Republicans thought they would...
Her disapproval ratings are TWICE that of Obama and Biden.....
Do you know her position on rape kits, rape vitcims, family leave for single and pregnant mothers, her position on pork projects for Alaska???
ALl of this will come out...just give it time
Obama couldn't choose a VP who would have been stabbing him in the back each time he turned his head. He would have had a hit on him as soon as they got in the white house. I think he dodged a dangerous bullet by not picking Hill as his VP. :-)
