Weathering Storms in Chickapin Parish
Reading the headlines today should scare you shitless. Ike has knocked out most of the electricity in the nation's fourth largest city of Houston, TX. The Dow is plunging (yet again) as financial storms wreck havoc on Merrill Lynch and Lehman Brothers. The only good news is that the price of a barrel of oil has dropped to a seven month low of under $97. It may fall even further.
In hard times like these, I think we Americans should take a good look in the mirror and once again embrace good old fashioned values relating to money. That starts with us all the way up to our government. If we don't learn to take care of ourselves and keep our financial houses in order, we will get washed away from storms brewing on the horizon. It is high time we go into hunker down mode.

Damn hot lookin' and fiscally conservative... geeze, I'm going to have to change my britches now. I'm so happy, I didn't know there were others out there, well fically conservative at least...
We finally got out of our self induced debt about 10 yrs ago and actually saving money again - it's a nice feeling
I personally don't believe in "hunkering down".
Moving targets are harder to hit.
The only reason that thirties isolationism worked was due to the american work ethic, which we have successfully lost to china, india and places where they know hard work earns you money, not complaining.
I personally believe that america could do with some hardship. It only makes us stronger.
But I'm also a big fan of Starship Troopers, Sparta and the slightly fascist ideal that one should earn your citizenship. Harsh, but rewarding.
Brett: We need Democrats like you in the California State Legislature! It seems many sensible Democrats are in the South.
Fiscal conservatism gives me a stiffy.

Actually, that isn't exactly true but almost. lol. Good advice. The irony is the republican party used to be about that very thing back before they got hijacked by the greedy fundies.
