Is this Your Politician?

Rob has an excellent post that will make you think of the world in which we live in. WE TRULY ARE ALL ASSHOLES. Even you dear reader. Governments... bloggers... everyone.
It made me think of who represented the greatest of the assholes, and I came to the realization that it is our politicians. The wires in my brain went haywire as I typed the longest comment I would have ever posted on anyone's blog. When I realized I had my very own blog post, I decided to put my original comment here:
I have to say that it pretty much sucks to be an American this decade. We have caused the loss of so much innocent life in Iraq. As a country, we have forever lost any moral high ground for that invasion and the misery we inflicted on the people of Iraq.
I have been so disenfranchised with the Democrats since they have gained majority control of Congress. I bought into the idea that Pelosi would lead the charge to impeach Bush and Cheney. It never happened. We were told, "Well... they are on their way out come election time anyway." Okay... we have passive aggressive Democrats in charge.
Now it just seems that the Democrats are in bed with the Republicans. Only when we have a Congress controlled by Democrats and a Democrat as President will people see the truth of our "democracy". Nothing will change.
And do you know why? It's because lobbyists run the show. They own and rule our politicians, who are nothing more than whores. When you see a politician, throw them a chapstick and ask them how many lobbyists they had to blow today!

I agree... the other day when Bush was criticizing Russia for invading Georgia I thought.. "How can he say that with a straight face? Does he not realize what a horrible hypocrite that makes him?"
I have to say I fully agree here with you Brett. The times we live in are hard and sometimes to much to cope with. That is why I have to say I vote. It maight make a small change, but a small ripple in a pond can go a long way. That is why I tell everyone to vote or quit Bitching. Thank for this post. You are truly worthy.
Ray
Brett, you are right on the money with this post. Louisiana is the poster child of corrupt politics so you know well of what you wrote about. Your photo of that disgusting whore would make a nice one to put in the halls of Congress to remind them of how the public perceives their job performance and moralitiy.
While I understand there is a perception that the Democrats have achieved little, I think it’s only fair to mention much of the Democrats’ agenda has passed Pelosi’s House of Representatives only to be brought to defeat in the Senate by a coalition of Republicans working with the Bush White House to create gridlock. The GOP has orchestrated this strategy by threatening a Senatorial filibuster or a veto from the president. A filibuster is a legislative tactic to infinitely extend debate on a bill. The only way to end a filibuster is to obtain 60 votes to invoke closure. Let’s do the math. Currently there are 49 Democrats, 2 Independents (who caucus with the Dems - including Uncle Tom Lieberman), 49 Republicans and the Senate President, Dick Cheney--who votes if there is a tie. The Republicans can easily stop any legislation in the Senate with a filibuster or a veto. Let me also explain a veto from the White House can only be overridden with a 2/3 majority in both houses of Congress. That brings us back to 60 votes in the Senate. Because most schools no longer teach civics and American’s continue to be woefully uneducated about their own government, the Republicans then send their operatives out to the news outlets, who lap it up and report on how ineffective the Democrats have been in Congress. As you mention, there is a remedy: elect more Democrats to the Senate (and the House) and put Barack in the White House.
Brett: I saw your post on Rob's Blog, and must comment. I do not know if a Democrat majority under a President Barack would solve the country's problems. I am, to be sure, no big fan of McCain; I see him as another Bush who will not follow sensible domestic policy.
Given the price of gas, why does the Democrat majority in Congress oppose utilizing our own oil deposits and converting to nuclear power on a national scale, until alternatives are economically feasible? But then the Republicans haven't addressed this either.
With regard to Iraq, don't forget we removed a brutal dictator from power. Yet I also agree that insufficient effort was made to conclude it and depart. WE should not still be there, but we are.
Brett, there is my take. Charlie
Couple of points:
First, politicians aren't blowing lobbyists. Lobbyists are blowing politicians so that the politicians will vote the way they want. It's an important distinction.
Second, I don't recall impeachment being a promise of anyone but the looney fringe of the left. People can say what they want about "it was all about sex", but Clinton proved you could lie *under oath* and survive an impeachment vote. Despite the enormous tragic consequences of the lies that came from this administration, they weren't under oath, and what's worse, I suspect nobody told Bush he was lying because nobody told him the whole truth.
I don't think it will make a bit of difference if we elect a solidly Democratic Congress with a Democratic president (as we had from 1992-1994). Both parties have long since learned that the only goal is staying in power, and the way to stay in power is to promise people more stuff than the other side.
Careful, sweetie, I said "most" not "all" and "most" might be too harsh.
Or not.
As for "we have forever lost any moral high ground," don't forget as generations pass and countries mature, opinions change. Germany and Japan certainly enjoy greater respect than they did 60 years ago. We may redeem ourselves yet.
Heh heh- you said "disenfranchized"!
Oh, and I hope those are testicles on that thing in the picture and not meat curtains!
I thought you got rid of that pink skirt of yours?
I don't know ... there's just something about the picture of that lady that bothers me.
Even with balls that hang down like that, I just don't think she knows anything about foreign policy.
This photo made my stomach hurt.
