On a Mission to be Daddy...

I am 36 years old. If I want to be a hot looking Daddy at age 40, it is time I continue working on my build. I am officially grinding to a halt all the usual bad habits: slacking at the gym doing half-ass workouts, pigging out at Taco Bell, and shying away from cardio. I love musclebears... and that fits my build. I am more on the scrawny end of being a muscle bear though. I look in the mirror and see myself as puny. I need more mass. The funny thing is that my peeps locally tell me the direct opposite. They think I am muscular enough and I simply MUST LOSE that belly fat. So, I am in a quandry of what to do. Do I concentrate on getting bigger in size or should I slim down by ramping up the cardio? Hmm... decisions... decisions.

Being a daddy has more to do than with muscles, but it does help. Nice shot on your profile.

Sign up for a session on 'work out' on Bravo Channel.

That way you can be in Los Angeles and I can play with you too!

TonyM....
Were going to have to fight over him if he comes out to LA. I'll make it simple...age takes seniority...he's mine. HEHEHE!

Brett...as a friend, don't mass up more...you really have the perfect physique now. I mean that. Just incorporate some consistent cardio in there and work a bit more protein into the diet. We just need to figure out how to 'mass up' Slab a bit more. Lordy, if Slab had anymore mass I'd explode.

tony(SF) - there wouldn't be much of a fight. Besides, from what I've heard about Slab there's plenty for both of us!

Brett...diet, stay away from Taco Hell and don't eat anything white(rice, bread, etc).

FOCUS!

Stopping the Taco Bell pigout sessions will help, as will cutting out other excess fat in your diet. You have a naturally stocky build that will work well for what you're trying to accomplish, but between your food intake and sometimes too-sedentary lifestyle, you have a tendency to acquire a layer of fat in precisely the spots that spoil the look you're looking for.

So yes, some extra cardio to reduce bodyfat will help, and if you have to do more workouts and eat different things to replace the bulk with muscle, particularly above your gutline, then do it.

Eat more, smaller meals (five or six times a day is probably best). Your body can only process so much protein, etc. at a time, so pigging out only ends up going through your system.

And as the originator of the "Slab" nickname, I can say Slab doesn't need more overall mass. It's no LT but it's adequate to do the job.

Brett, I think you look incredible the way you are darlin. How can you really perfect perfection??? (BARF) Seriously, you do not need to bulk up anymore...and we could all afford to lose a few inches around the waist. No matter what, you will always be HOT!!!!

No matter what you try to be, everyone will perceive you differently. It's best to just be what makes you feel sexy and comfortable. That's what appeals to almost everyone.

What if you did a combination of both cardio and strength training? The cardio to lose what you claim to be belly fat (not even evident), and strength training to give you mass. Ideally the results of both will generate that tapered "V" look.

Two words: body dysmorphia.

You need to worry less about what you look like. It is how you FEEL that matters.

I started my new alcohol taco bell free diet today....I have been working out now since december and for the first 3 mos only did cardio and abs...last four months or so i have added weights and now I have leveled off in loosing weight... but i did read a couple of articles about alcohol and your liver has to burn it off before it will start burning body fat off...and if you loose some of the wasteline the other will look bigger more daddy like...hehe...but you are fine by the way...FINE FINE FINE

Damn, I wish I had that quandry to have to figure out LOL

Personally, I think you're fine just the way you are. But we all need to strive for something - so pick your poison and go for it with gusto!

You can try to be a daddy, but to me you'll always be a cute cub!?

Cubs play together, wanna play!

We can let daddy Eshrew watch or join in!?

I think you have plenty of mass.

Take it from someone who really could use some mass.

You get much bigger and "slab" will look even smaller. ;-)

BTW, too many Tonys around here.

actually I agree, I think you have a great overall shape and proportion. If you wanted to focus on something you could lose a little bit of fat and work harder on definition and tone.... maybe even go for that 6-pack... but I do think your size is a plenty.

Of course - people tell me that shit too and I always feel puny and want to get bigger.... so.... I know what you mean.

If I have to hear about body dysmorphic disorder one more time, I'll just barf.

Your mirrors must be dirty, 'cause from what I see, that's the only problem.

Unfortunately, as I've gotten older I started looking more like my father.

And that's not a "daddy" profile I aspire to. So I believe the best choice it to keep the weight off!
