Et tu, Brute?

"Et tu, Brute?" were thought to be the last words of Julius Caesar before he was betrayed and stabbed to death by the Roman senators. That is sometimes how I feel about "friends". Shouldn't a friend be supportive of you? Shouldn't a friend be interested in what's going on with your life? That is something I am mulling over and over in my head.

Some "friends" of mine think my blog is a testament to the fact that I am an arrogant asshole. They were giddy at the prospect of me going down in flames in last Saturday night's contest. To their horror, the title of my blogpost about the contest misled them into believing I had lost. They groaned when they saw the last few pictures of the blogpost. How many of you were rooting for my ass to lose? Hmm...?

These same "friends" want Whipping Boy to BEAT ME... and BEAT ME GOOD. For the record, Whipping Boy has beaten me before. When my wrist was bothering me last year before the Austin tennis tournament, he beat me many times. Overall, it is a rare event... but it does happen.

Sometimes I feel like Julius Caesar or the New York Yankees. And yes... I guess that is my arrogance once again going full throttle! I am comparing myself to the greatest emperor AND the greatest baseball team.

Jeez... I can't win no matter what I say, write or do. There is always going to be spin placed on my actions... regardless. I think I am just going to keep on doing what makes Brett happy. It is my life. If I want to "toot my own horn"... then that is my perogative. You can either love me unconditionally... or not.

I love how people like to make assumptions about people just based on the words they write in a blog.

We all know what happens when people "Assume".

Sounds to me that it is time you find new "friends". "Friends" are supposed to be supportive and full of encouragement. I think you already know who you can and cannot depend on...time to clean house of some of these so called "friends".

I think you are fabulous just the way you are..arrogance, humility, sensitivity and all...that is what makes Brett Brett!

Stay the way you are babe...you are loved by so many...

I agree...time to clean house. Get rid of all those people who don't support you the way you need. There are plenty of people right here on your blog who adore you unconditionally.

I agree with Mark. Anyone who thinks they know you based solely on your blog, doesn't have a clue.

There's more to you than what we see here - hell, there's a whole other side of you that can be seen just in your comments on other blogs.

And then there's what we can't see.

But my guess is when you put them all together, you get one hell of a nice guy - a little cocky to be sure - a little irreverent - but all in all a hell of a great guy.

It should be all about you... Don't let others get to you...and I would have been tooting your horn too... I mean... well, ummm... You looked great and should be proud...don't think that if I won something like that, that I would not have a bazillion pics posted on my blog... Congrats again...and keep up the good work!!

Sometimes some honnest people are confused as arrogant people and thats a big mistake, i dont have the luck to know u in person, but i enjoy the way u write, and i have read every blog. You have a great way to show ur feelings in a plastic world and thats great.

I don't get it... I mean, I have no idea and it may be true or a completely exageration. But it's very tricky to judge people completely based on writings.

Is this also from people who know you in person? It almost seems pointless to tell this to a truly arrogant person because they won't care anyway.

You seem to care about the judgement - so that makes me think you couldn't be the complete egotistical person that you're accused of being.

Yes, Atari, these are from local friends that happen to read my blog. I just think they are jealous cause they can't hit a tennis ball if their life depended on it. They are too sissy to use some testosterone in anything other than tricking online. And they are too God Damned lazy to carry their cow hoofs to the gym. Hmpfh!
