The Winds of Change...
The winds of change are coming.
I can feel it's warm breath on the back of my neck.
It is time to sail says the wind.
My feet tingle as they are ready to walk.
The Sun shines brightly before me.
My path is clear ahead.
I walk forward with great optimism,
that my choice is right.
No more am I captive,
of my sorrowful childhood.
I am all grown up,
ready to leave the nest.
To stand on my own,
it is for the best.
When I get to my final destination,
I'll be ready and well rested.
It is time to start living,
in the clear light of the day.
For what wants I have,
I am entitled.
To be richly rewarded,
and loved by someone.

that's awesome! I'm no poet and I lack creative talent.... in fact I rarely even fully understand poetry or art.... sick, I know. Life is pretty black/white/grey in these eyes...... I find poetry in a well-oiled machine... in a complex mechanical or logical system that functions as designed with peak efficiency. Elegance and poetry sings to me through the complex matrix of the universe and every connected thread. I can not - unfortunately - find it usually in words or pictures.
Even still, with that in mind... There's a single poem I found a long time ago that describes my life's path and I think might suit you appropriately as well at this new juncture... I did NOT write this:
I made a big decision a little while ago.
I don't remember what it was, which prob'ly goes to show
that many times a simple choice can prove to be essential
Even though it often might appear inconsequential.
I must have been distracted when I left my home because
Left or right I'm sure I went. (I wonder which it was!)
Anyway, I never veered: I walked in that direction
Utterly absorbed, it seems, in quiet introspection.
For no reason I can think of, I've wandered far astray.
And that is how I got to where I find myself today.
----
if you like it, I'll tell you who wrote it...
Trust me - you know the author... but you'll be surprised at who it was.
glad to see someone's feeling really upbeat today :)

Well said! Sounds like you made a clear decision and are moving on.
Speaking of winds, are you ready for Katrina?
Brett,
You deserve the good things from life that you are wanting, and if you aren't obtaining them in your current situation make a change! It will still require hard work, but you can make it happen. Best if luck buddy!
