My prayers go out...
It is nothing but misery down here. We were the lucky ones. My prayers go out to those who have lost lives and homes. In my small hometown, there are 100,000's of refugees from New Orleans. They are camped out at gas stations, store parking lots, and anywhere they can find shelter. It is surreal. It is almost like they are escaping a war. My heart goes out to these people because they cannot find hotel rooms or shelter. My house has no electricity, A/C or running water. As soon as I get back from my vacation, I am going to open up my 4 bedroom house to some New Orleans refugees. (crossing fingers I'll have everything running by then) I am going to take in my boyfriend, Michael, for at least a couple months along with a husband and wife pair who I heard could not find a hotel room in Baton Rouge. I encourage all of your Louisiana readers to think about the plight of these homeless people and try to accomodate them for a month or two. That is the Christian thing to do.
For my blogger buddies... I have decided to drive to Houston, TX tomorrow morning. My boyfriend is about 6 1/2 hours away from Baton Rouge right now. We suddenly realized that we will be living together for a few months, until he can get back to the city. Yes, a tragedy such as a Category 5 Hurricane is FINALLY putting a man in my bed every night. Well... this is what I was always hoping for. Now I have a live-in boyfriend! Now let's see how well we get along seeing each other everyday.
I am going to Las Vegas on Thursday. We are catching an early morning flight from Houston to Las Vegas. There is no reason to stay down here. There is no AC or power. It is freaking HOT as hell down here! I DO feel guilty about it. TRUST ME... I am worried about my conscience now. But considering that we may not have power for another week in my rural area, I am chosing to take a break from it and feel the cool AC on a long ago planned vacation. I'll post pics as I get them. I still plan to meet Purpletwinkie (Scott) and Don (McDoughall's Doodles). I'll let you know how it goes.
You guys please say prayers for all those who have suffered so much in Mississippi and Louisiana. This is truly one of the greatest human tragedies Mississippi and Louisiana has ever faced.

Brett, don't feel guilty about your trip. Just go and have a great time. You deserve it. Your big heart and willingness to help is going to require that you be rested and refeshed for what's in store.
I'd like to ask for everyone reading this blog to donate whatever you can afford to The Red Cross. Do it for the World's Sexiest Cajun and for the victims of that bitch, Katrina.
You NEED this trip...you should NOT feel guilty. Say Hi to Scott for me.

TAKE THE VACATION. this is long haul. you need to be rested once the rest of the world moves on. THAT'S when someone like you who cares this deeply will be needed. you can tell a lot about a person by their friends and yours seem to be the best. take care of you during this time, too. and since I'm a doxie lover and having seen your pics, I'll donate what I can to the humane society to help support the displaced animals ~ for "the World's Sexiest Cajun." I hope you have a good time, and I don't think you should feel guilty either. Go, and do not worry about wasting your energy on guilt, just get refreshed so you can come back and do your best to help.
I can't imagine what it is like there now, and the depth of the loss that people are feeling. I feel for all the people who are suffering and I am keeping all of you in my thoughts>

Glad to hear the bf is fine and you'll be spending some quality time together. Having tons of friends back home in big HOU, they've all been overrun w/friends/family as well.
Take the trip away and enjoy it as I'm sure they'll be some hard work ahead.

Thanks for the support guys. I am now safely in Houston. We are at my handsome friend Tim's house. He is a gay tennis coach. WOOF! He has graciously extended his hospitality for the night as we are flying out tomorrow morning. I'll post new Vegas pics as I get them! :)
That's very selfless of you to consider taking in those less fortunate. Hopefully there are other people down your way who are doing or are going to be doing the same. All the best....
Glad to read you and your's were somewhat spared from the misery that's going on down your way. Thanks for giving us your take on the events, i've been looking for a blog from Louisiana that would give me info. up close. Glad you decided to go to vegas too. You deserved it.
